COMMENT PERIOD

The ADA Ethics Committee has developed a draft Ethics Opinion entitled 
"*Weight Loss Products and Over-the-Counter Medications*" for members 
and credentialed practitioners to review and provide comment.  An Ethics 
Opinion is defined as "an interpretation or application of the ADA/CDR 
Code of Ethics for the Profession of Dietetics by the Ethics Committee 
in response to a specific ethics issue or situation facing dietetics 
professionals in practice.  These opinions will be available to members 
and credentialed practitioners to serve as an educational guide for 
their conduct."

 

The draft Ethics Opinion will be available for members and credentialed 
practitioners to review and provide input during a 60-day comment period 
beginning on *Monday, April 28, 2008*.  The draft Ethics Opinion will be 
available by accessing the ADA member only website or the CDR website.  
Members and credentialed practitioners will have until *Wednesday, June 
26, 2008* to provide their comments on the draft document.  On Monday, 
April 28, you will receive a message providing the website addresses 
(ADA and CDR) to access the draft opinion.  Please encourage members and 
credentialed practitioners to access, review and comment on the draft.

 

After the 60-day comment period, the Ethics Committee will review all 
comments and make final revisions to the Ethics Opinion before it is 
published in the /Journal of the American Dietetic Association.  / If
