Hello Everyone,
I would like to take this opportunity to let our members know about my two new books on food allergy: "Dealing with Food Allergies", and "Dealing with Food Allergies in Babies and Children", published by Bull Publishing Company, Colorado. In them you will find a great deal of information about tests for food allergies - how they are performed, their relative values and limitations. In addition, the books contain detailed information about exactly how to diagnose food allergies, and how to carry out elimination and challenge to determine exactly how a person reacts to each suspect food when it is consumed - the only real way to determine an individual's specific food allergies.
In addition, I would like to invite members to visit my website at www.allergynutrition.com where you will find a number of factsheets on food allergy diagnosis and management which I hope you will find extremely useful in your practice.
Best wishes,
Janice M. Joneja, Ph.D., RD,

Some doctors use the Pulse Test i.e. the pulse is taken before and after eating a suspect food. The person is seated in a comfortable resting position and the pulse taken before eating then repeated at 10, 20, 40 and 60 minutes after eating the food. If there is an immediate reaction, there will be an unusual increase or decrease of pulse rate greater than 10 per minute on testing. This is only a preliminary test and must be verified by an immune response test.
Dietary exclusion and the resulting disappearance of symptoms is the main foundation upon which a diagnosis of food allergy is made.

Hello all,
I would like to know which is the best test to detect food allergies. What do you recommend in your practice.
Thank you,
