[AODA members] Private Practice overseas

Hi all,
 
This topic is of interest for me as well as I have been comtemplating the same idea. I have also seen the email that Becky Donnor sent about the book and it looks interesting.  I am quite curious about the bussiness plans- do any of you have a sample you can send? (you may adjust numbers if you will), but it would be nice to see the differences in different countries.
 
Jennifer, I also know that JADA had a an article about starting a private practice thi january 2008. I believe is more general but it gives good tips. Like Elena said, is wiser to start checking local laws as it may take time to get something going.
 
Look forward for any samples.

Hi Jennifer,
 
Did you want to open your own practice in Azerbaijan? If so, the first thing that I would take into account are the local laws involved in opening your own practice. In other words I would first get through the bureaucracy of actually opening your own practice. For example here in Greece I had to have my degree recognized officially by the Greek education system (it took a year) , then I had to apply for a special license to open my own office and I also had apply for another license from the local prefecture.
A good source of help can be the local dietetic association.

I am a US Registered Dietitian currently living overseas in Baku, Azerbaijan.  I am interested in starting a private practice and am hoping that someone can offer some guidance about where/how to begin.

 

I'm hoping that someone has some information regarding business plans, marketing, taxes, malpractice insurance, etc.
