SUBJECT:      *_ADA_**_ POSITIONS- CALL FOR POTENTIAL AUTHORS, 
REVIEWERS, AND CONTENT ADVISORS_*

The American Dietetic Association, through the Association Positions 
Committee (APC), is beginning the process of updating/developing the 
following positions:

·         *Nutrition Intervention in the Care of Persons with Human 
Immunodeficiency Virus Infection *(This will be an evidence-based paper 
using the evidence analysis process.)**

·         *Fortification and Nutritional Supplements *(This will be an 
evidence-based paper using the evidence analysis process.)**

·         *Promoting and Supporting Breastfeeding *(This will be an 
evidence-based paper using the evidence analysis process.)**

APC is* *asking you to identify* *names of person(s) who would be 
qualified to serve as _authors_ of the position papers, _reviewers_ of 
the completed papers or _content advisors_ to provide guidance during 
the update of the position papers.

* *

  *_Author Qualifications_*

An author needs to meet the following criteria: demonstrates good 
writing skills, demonstrates thorough and current knowledge of the 
topic, demonstrates the ability to synthesize scientific data, 
demonstrates the ability to meet deadlines. More than one author can be 
selected. An author's commitment to developing a position is 12-16 
months.  The author will have staff support at ADA Headquarters.

  *_Reviewer Qualifications_*

Reviewers need to have critical thinking skills, in-depth knowledge of 
the subject and current practice experience, and availability to 
accommodate a 30-day turnaround. Organizational units, such as DPGs, may 
review a position paper as a group, or may suggest individuals to serve 
in this capacity. 

  *_Content Advisor Qualifications_*

The content advisor needs to be an expert in the field.  The content 
advisor will participate on all APC Workgroup conference calls (4-6) 
during the period of position development.  They assist the Workgroup in 
understanding the current science and practice of dietetics in the 
subject area.

    *_Names, Addresses, Phone Numbers and E-mail Addresses Needed_*

For each person suggested, please submit name address, phone number and 
e-mail address by *October 18*.  The information may be e-mailed to 
dwickstrom at eatright.org <mailto:dwickstrom at eatright.org> , faxed 
(312/899-4790), or mailed to Donna Wickstrom at ADA Headquarters.  Each 
person selected will receive a letter of invitation and a request for 
him or her to submit their curriculum vitae.

  *_Recognition for Authors, Reviewers, and Content Advisor_*

Those involved in the development of the position paper will be 
acknowledged at the end of the position paper when it is published in 
the /Journal of the American Dietetic Association/.
