[AODA members] AODA October Update

Dear AODA members -

It has been a quiet month for me in terms of communicating with AODA 
members as I've been at FNCE, then on vacation with my family and 
traveling around Northeast United States quite extensively.  I'll be 
back in Malawi at work on October 26th and will back into a normal swing 
of things, contact me or any leadership team member at any time for 
suggestions, or just to get to know each other!  See our website:

our pictures and a bit of information about who we are.

There is a lot going on behind the scenes in AODA, here are just 4 
things that are coming up:

*** The AODA passport, make sure your address is correct with ADA ***
It will packed with information from members and your leadership team.  
A blast e-mail will be sent to all members.  A blast e-mail means that 
it will be sent to all AODA members who give ADA an e-mail address, so 
make sure your address is correct with ADA so that you don't lose any 
benefits!  For help on this, see the AODA website at:

***  Nominations for the leadership team for the 2008-9 year, expect an 
announcement soon ***
There are many people that have come forward to volunteer in AODA and 
the Nominating Chair, Becca Gray, NCC at EatrightOverseas.org or one of the 
leadership team members contacts each potential volunteer to help fit 
them into a place that meets their skills and interests.

***  Annual member Survey, coming soon ***
AODA is made up of members and your ideas are what form the direction of 
the organization.  The Annual member survey will be coming to you very 
soon, please remember to take a few minutes to tell your leadership team 
what you need out of being a member of AODA.

***  Midyear Board Meeting, first electronic board meeting ***
This year the board voted to have an electronic mid-year board meeting 
instead of a face to face meeting.  The board meets twice a year, once 
mid-way through the term (December) and once near the end (around April, 
terms end at the end of May).  The board that you voted into office 
lives in 8 different countries, and the cost of having face to face 
meetings has increased, so this year the mid year meeting will be 
electronic and the annual meeting face to face.  The board is working on 
free conference calling, video chats and is now working with ADA to 
build a leadership team Bulletin Board to improve the way we do 
business.  We are always working to be financially transparent and 
efficient.
