It would be wonderful for a grassroots advocate from AODA to win this - 
please nominate someone you know!  Note that the application is quite 
American-centric and you will need to insert the international aspect 
that you come from.  Tatyana, our President Elect and legislative 
liaison to ADA, can work with the team to make sure this form becomes 
more global :) !

American Dietetic Association's Public Policy Workshop is around the 
corner and it is time to start thinking about who you would like to 
nominate for the 2008 Award for Grassroots Excellence.

 

The Legislative & Public Policy Committee will select the recipient of 
this award from ADA members who have been nominated by their peers.  
Nomination criteria include participation in ADA's grassroots and 
political activities at the local, state or federal levels; and, 
support, either financial or auxiliary, for ADA's Political Action 
Committee. Past winners of this award, which was given for the first 
time in 1999, include: Kim Vagt (CA), Cindy Knox, RD, LD (Texas), Jane 
Folkman (Massachusetts), Helen Lodge, MS, RD (West Virginia), Patricia 
McKnight, MS, RD, LD, FADA (Ohio), Iva-Mary Hopkins, MS, RD (Virginia), 
Susan Yake, RD, CD, CDE, CLC (Washington) JoJo Dantone-DeBarbieris, MS, 
RD, LD, CDE (Louisiana) and Roger Shewmake PhD, LN (South Dakota).

 

Submit your nominees to me no later than December 19 via email at 
jteters at eatright.org <mailto:jteters at eatright.org> or by fax at 
(202)775-8284.   When filling out the attached nomination form, please 
be detailed about the person you are nominating, what they have 
accomplished and how long they have been an active member.

 

The winner of the Award for Grassroots Excellence will be recognized at 
the 2008 Public Policy Workshop in Washington D.C. February 4-6.
