[AODA members] Need your input! Dues - HOD Dialogue Session #2: by Sept 20

    LT, CRs and Members -

There are 2 HoD topics that need our attention, this one is on our 
dues.  This one needs a lot of input from our international members who 
we've heard from over the years in reference to dues being a barrier to 
joining.  Now is the time to speak up!

Please provide input on this topic to AODA's House of Delegates Chair, 
Naomi Trostler at HDC at EatrightOverseas.org. 

This is being passed through our member networks so please generate 
discussion.  Naomi will compile AODA members opinions on this and 
contribute our input to the ADA HoD discussions. 

This process is what directs and guides our leaders so your input is vital!

      House of Delegates Fact Sheet:     MEMBERSHIP DUES PROCESS


As the Association begins fiscal year 2008 (FY08), the House of 
Delegates (HOD) is charged with addressing plans for membership dues for 
fiscal year 2009 and beyond.  Based on the Association's history and 
past HOD dialogue sessions relating to dues, the House Leadership Team 
believes that the House of Delegates has established a successful 
process for increasing membership dues which should be continued.


*Proposed Process for Potential Dues Increases *

·        Dues for members in the Active category /may /be increased 
indexed to inflation not to exceed an increase of 3% per year. 

·        Dues for other member categories will be increased 
proportionately. 

·        The decision to increase dues within this process shall be the 
purview of the Board of Directors and should be based on evidence 
provided by the Finance and Audit Committee. 

·        A dues increase in excess of 3% will need to be presented to 
the HOD for approval. 

·        This dues increase process should be reevaluated by the HOD no 
later than 2013. 

 

*Summary of Rationale for Recommendation*

After the two dues increases ($25 each) in FY04 and FY05, the process 
for increasing dues based on inflation has allowed the Association to 
both maintain membership numbers and move the Association's strategic 
plan forward.  It should be noted that dues were not raised to the 
maximum that the process allowed, thus demonstrating the BOD's financial 
stewardship for ADA members
